What is Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy provides treatment to individuals to develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and function throughout life. This includes providing treatment in circumstances where movement and function are threatened by aging, sporting injury, trauma injury, disease or other factors.
Physical therapy is concerned with identifying and maximizing quality of life and movement potential within the spheres of promotion, prevention, treatment/intervention, habilitation and rehabilitation. It involves the interaction between physical therapist (PT), patients/clients, other health professionals, families, caregivers, and communities in a process where movement potential is assessed and goals are agreed upon, using knowledge and skills unique to physical therapists.
Who can benefit from Physical Therapy?
Anyone who suffers from a decrease of movement and function which may be caused by aging, sporting injury, trauma injury, disease other factors, can benefit from physical therapy.
What is involved in the Physical Therapy process?
All new patients will receive a private consultation to assess the injury and develop a rehabilitation plan.
Do I need a prescription from my doctor before receiving services?
No, you can seek the services of a physical therapist without a prescription from a physician. In some cases your insurance provider requires a referral from a physician to cover your expenses, so check with your insurance company to determine your insurance benefits.
If my doctor has a physical therapy department or my prescription is for another physical therapist, can I still go to Prehab?
Absolutely! You can choose your physical therapy provider even if you have a prescription for a different physical therapist. Bring your prescription with you to your first appointment and we will take care of the rest!
